Top Ranked Duke Spoils Lady Monarchs' Season-Opener

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Abby Waner scored 17 points and Lindsey Harding had 16 to lead top-ranked Duke over Old Dominion 93-56 on Sunday.

Duke (2-0) scored 20 consecutive points in a span of about six minutes to take a 26-4 lead with 11:07 remaining in the first half.

Old Dominion (0-1), playing without injured starters Tiffany Green and Tamara Ransburg, had 10 turnovers in the first 9:30 and seven more by halftime to trail 47-26.

Monique Currie added 15 points and nine rebounds. Laura Kurz had 11 points.

T.J. Jordan led Old Dominion with 17 points, followed by Paula Muxiri with 12 and Tish Lyons with 10.

Duke has all five starters back from the team that went 31-5 and advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals last season.
