Lady Monarchs Defeat Team Concept, 89-78 Behind Green and Triggs

NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University Lady Monarchs got double-double performances from Sherida Triggs ( Norcross, GA.) and Tiffany Green (Chesapeake, VA.) to defeat Team Concept, 89-78 in their final exhibition game of the season. Green had 18 points and ten rebounds, while Triggs scored 16 points with 15 boards. In all, five Lady Monarchs were in double figures.

Team Concept, whose line-up featured two former Lady Monarch standouts inO'Keisha Howard ('03) and Tiffany Thompson ('02) led at halftime, 46-44. Team Concept shot a blistering .586 from the floor (17-29). In the second half ODU shut themDown to .357 shooting. Allyson Hardy led Team Concept with 14 points, while O'Keisha Howard added 11 with four assists.

ODU took the lead for good at 52-51 with 16:30 remaining on Triggs basket. T.J.Jordan (Portsmouth, VA.) hit a layup and Jen Nuzzo (Newport News, VA.) drilled a trey and ODU was up 57-51 with 14:51 left. The Lady Monarchs led by as many as 17, 76-59 after two Tiffany Green free throws.

Green hit her first seven shots on the night and finished seven-for-eight in the game. Joining Green and Triggs in double figures were T. J. Jordan with 14 pointsAlong with Lawona Davis (Port St. Lucie, FL.) and Jen Nuzzo with 12 each. Freshman Jazzmin Walters (Norfolk, VA.) led with five assists.

ODU shot .426 from the floor and dominated the boards, outrebounding TeamConcept, 61-23. Megan Pym (Newfield, NY.) hauled in ten boards and blocked two shots as well for ODU.

The Lady Monarchs open the regular season next Sunday, Nov. 20 againstPre-season top ranked Duke in the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
