PHILADELPHIA, PA--. In a match televised regionally across the east coast, the 3rd ranked Old Dominion University Soccer Monarchs played the Drexel Dragons to a 1-1 double overtime tie Sunday afternoon. Junior forward Edson Elcock (Brooklyn, NY) tallied the lone goal for the Monarchs. With the tie, ODU runs its record to 8-1-2 (3-0-1) on the year. Drexel is now 2-6-3 (1-1-2) for the season.

Elcock scored in the 88th minute of play after taking a feed from sophomore midfielder A.J. Kulp (Ephrata, PA) and firing a bending shot towards the far post and into the net. Drexel responded with 45 seconds left in regulation when Pat McCaffery netted a goal in traffic. ODU took eight shots and six corner kicks in overtime, but Drexel's defense thwarted their scoring opportunities.

On the day, ODU out shot the Dragons 26-12, and held a 14-3 advantage in corner kicks. Senior goalie John Connelly (Rockville, MD) stopped five shots. Drexel's Nick Macri made 15 saves to help his teams' cause.

The Monarchs return to action Friday night as they host new CAA addition Northeastern at the ODU Soccer Stadium. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
