TOWSON, MD--. Senior forward Brian Cvilikas (Highlands Ranch, CO) scored two goals, including the overtime game-winner, on Sunday afternoon to lead the 8th ranked Old Dominion Soccer Monarchs to a 2-1 win over Towson. With the victory, the Monarchs improved to 13-2-2 (8-1-1) for the season, and have clinched the top seed in the upcoming CAA tournament. Towson drops to 9-5-3 (3-4-3) on the year.
Cvilikas earned his first score in the 28th minute of play after finishing a direct kick sent by junior midfielder Jared Kent (Marietta, GA). Towson would equalize in the 87th minute of action when Sebastian Haensal sent a blast from 10 yards out that found the net. During the first overtime session, freshman Bobby Foglesong (Fredericksburg, VA) sent a long ball to Cvilikas who netted his CAA-leading 13th goal of the year from 20 yards out to give ODU the victory.
ODU outshot the Tigers 24-9 on the day, and also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. ODU will host the semifinals and finals of the CAA Tournament November 11-13th.
The Monarchs return to action Friday night at 7:00 P.M. as they travel to Williamsburg for a conference match with William & Mary.
