NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion women's basketball head coach Wendy Larry announced Thursday the hiring of Sarah Childs as Director of Basketball Operations.

"Sarah already comes to us as a WNBA Champion," said Larry. "We are so fortunate that we were able to acquire the services of someone that has her diverse experiences."

Childs joins the Lady Monarchs after spending the three seasons working with the Seattle Storm, most recently as the Senior Coordinator of Community Relations and Promotions. While in Seattle, she helped implement community outreach plans including Read To Achieve, Mind.Body.Spirit, Jr. WNBA/NBA, and Breast Health Awareness and developed various marketing initiatives to promote the 2004 WNBA Champions.

Childs will work closely with the day-to-day operation of the women's basketball program, community and the Monarch ReachOut programs, and be a liaison to the Lady Monarch Pride, the support group for women's basketball at ODU.

A 1999 graduate Miami University of Ohio in with a degree in Health and Sports Studies, Childs received her masters degree from New Hampshire in Kinesiology-Sports Studies in 2001.
