ORLANDO, FL-- Orlando Magic President and Chief Executive Officer BobVander Weide announced that Dave Twardzik ('72) has been promoted tothe position of Assistant General Manager.

Twardzik served as Director of player personnel since 2003. He has morethan 29 years of professional basketball experience as a player, coachand front office executive.

Twardzik along with Otis Smith (who was an All-Sun Belt performerat Jacksonville when ODU was a member) will be responsible for overseeingbasketball operations, including player acquisitions via the draft,free agency and trades, player development, scouting and salary capmanagement.

Twardzik has worked in a variety of areas with several NBA team'sbasketball operations departments. He served as general manager ofGolden State from 1995-97. Prior to joining the Warriors, he spentfive seasons with the Charlotte Hornets, beginning as director of scouting in 1990.

A native of Middletown, PA., Twardzik graduated from ODU in 1972 and wastwice named an All-American and helped lead the Monarchs to the 1971NCAA Division II championship game in Evansville.

Twardzik is ODU's second all-time assist leader with 880(10.7) andeighth all-time scorer with 1660 (20.2).

He was honored at this year's CAA men's basketball awards banquet asan ODU legend. He is a member of the ODU and the Virginia SportsHall of Fames.
