Old Dominion Assistant Lowry Dawkins Accepts Texas Tech Position

June 2, 2005

NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion University women's basketball coach Wendy Larry has announced that assistant coach Niki Lowry Dawkins has resigned from her position to accept an assistant coach position at Texas Tech.

"I want to thank the ODU administration, fans, our players, and especially Coach Larry for allowing me to being apart of the Lady Monarch family," said Lowry Dawkins, who has been apart of the Lady Monarch sidelines the last two seasons. "I will bring with me a tremendous amount of memories and cherish the friendships I have made. The decision to pursue another opportunity was not made lightly, but I felt it was time to take another step in my career. I wish Coach Larry and the Lady Monarchs nothing but success."

During her time at Old Dominion, the Lady Monarchs captured their 13th and 14th straight Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) titles with the program collecting a 25-7 record in 2003-04 and a 22-9 mark in 2004-05.

"'I am hopeful that Niki has made a decision that will continue to help her reach her career goals and will make her very happy," said Larry. "I am appreciative of the knowledge of the game she shared with us and for the passion for the game she demonstrated."

A national search for Lowry Dawkins' replacement will begin immediately.
