NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion pounded out 13 hits and three Monarchpitchers scattered eight hits for a 9-2 non conference victory over Virginia MilitaryInstitute Wednesday night. ODU is 22-27, while the Keydets are 21-25.
Bryan Cipolla and Steven Harris each knocked in two runs, while EvanChipman, Keith Hahn, Justin Gregula and Chris Keenan joined them with two hitseach.
Cipolla sacrifice fly scored Chipman in the first, he then doubled homeChipman in the third. Steven Harris doubled home Justin Gregula in the sixth. HeThen doubled home Cipolla in the seventh inning.
Lefthander Bryan Hansen picked up the win, going the first five innings.He fanned five with four walks. Dana Arrowood pitched three scoreless inningswith five strikeouts, and James Burok finished up in the ninth.
VMI threatened in the sixth with the score, 3-1. Matt Smith and Klint Reedwere on first and second, but Arrowood came on to get a fly ball out and two strikeoutsto end the threat.
ODU travels to Hempstead, NY for a three-game CAA series at Hofstrabeginning Friday at 3 p.m.
