PETERSBURG, VA-- Virginia Commonwealth (28-14/13-5) rallied for eightruns in the last two innings and beat ODU, 12-11 in a CAA contestat Petersburg's Sports Complex. ODU is now 21-27 overall and 5-13in the CAA.
In the VCU eighth inning Tim St. Clair, the hero of last night's secondgame led the inning off with a solo homer. Bobby Holmes sacrifice fly scored Trai Harris to tie the game. Joe Meador then singled to leftto score Alex Gary with the winning run.
Rams reliever Danny Watkins pitched 2.1 innings of work, allowing nohits and gained his second win of the season.
The Monarchs took an 11-4 lead into the bottom of the seventh thanksto the hitting of Tyler Belcher, Jesse Schoendienst, Justin Gregulaand Keith Hahn.
Belcher hit a two-run homer in the ODU six-run seventh inning. Schoendienst singled in a run in the fifth. He also scored in thefifth and seventh innings. The four hits is a career high for him.
Keith Hahn singled in two runs in the seventh and also scored twicein the game. Justin Gregula had three hits and an RBI.
Both teams committed three errors each. ODU starter Hunter Hallallowed eight runs, but only four were earned.
VCU was led by Joe Meador, Sergio Miranda and Tim st. Clair withthree hits each.
The Monarchs return to action on Wednesday night when they hostVMI at 7 p.m.
