Monarchs Host Dukes This Weekend

NORFOLK, VA-- The Baseball Monarchs play host to the Dukes of JamesMadison in a three-game CAA series beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. atthe Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.

JMU 10-17 overall and 1-2 in the CAA will start Greg Nesbitt (1-1)in game one. Michael Cowgill leads teh Dukes in hitting at .368, whileMatt Bristow is second at .341. Nate Schill leads the team with 30 runsbatted in and is hitting .330.

ODU (17-18 overall and 1-5 in the CAA) will start Dana Arrowood (3-4,with a 3.60 ERA.) Friday night.

Sophomore firstbaseman Bryan Cipolla leads ODU with a .329 battingaverage and leads the CAA with 48 runs batted in. Senior outfielderEvan Chipman is tied for first in stolen bases with 15 and leads ODUin runs scored with 33. Freshman secondbaseman Chris Keenan is secondon the team in hitting at .323.

ODU's team ERA is 4.21, third best in the CAA, while JMU is 5.92.The Dukes will throw Bobby Lasko on Saturday and Jacob Cook onSunday. ODU will throw Bryan Hanson on Saturday, while head coachJerry Meyers has not yet decided on Sunday's starter.
