GW Rallies To Defeat Monarchs, 6-4

WASHINGTON, DC--Josh Goldberg singled home Brad Rosenblatt in the seventh inning with the lead run as George Washington defeated Old Dominion, 6-4Wednesday afternoon in a non conference game.

ODU led 4-3 going into the bottom of the seventh, but Michael Michalskiled off the inning with a solo homer to tied the game. Goldberg then singledhome Rosenblatt later in the inning to give the Colonials the lead. In the eighthinning, Matt Owens hit a solo homer to make it 6-4.

The Monarchs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as Evan Chipman singled,stole second and came home on Brian Cipolla's groundout. Cipolla now has58 runs batted in which lead the CAA and rank 14th nationally.

In the fourth inning C.J. Jacinto hit a solo homer to give ODU a 2-1 lead.In the fifth with GW leading, 3-2 Chipman singled, then stole second and third andscored on a Colonial error. Bryan Cipolla reached on a single, then later scored onTyler Belcher single to give ODU a 4-3 lead. Jacinto has now hit three homers inhis last three games.

Brian Frazier picked up his fifth win without a loss. Joel Brookens and DanPfau pitched the last two innings, with Pfau picking up his third save of the year forGW. Evan Chipman and Tyler Belcher each had two hits on the day. Chipmanstole three bases which give him 20 on the season, ranking him second in the CAA.

The Monarchs return to CAA action this weekend when they host the Universityof Delaware in a three-game series, beginning Friday night at 7 p.m.
