Lady Monarchs Host JMU In Home Regular Season Finale

NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion honorable mention All-American Shareese Grant (Va. Beach, Va.) was named to the 2005 Virginia Sports Information Directors' All-State women's basketball team, VaSID announced on Monday.

Grant, who among all CAA student-athletes ranked fifth in scoring (15.1 ppg), third in field goal percentage (.474), third in assists (4.20 apg),fourth in free throw percentage (.814), eighth in steals (2.20 spg) and first in assist/turnover ratio (1.30), led Old Dominion to its 14th straight CAA Tourament Title and its 22nd NCAA appearance.

During her senior campaign, Grant, became the first student-athlete to earn three CAA "Most Outstanding Player" honors, along with nods to the All-CAA First Team and CAA All-Defensive Team. This past season the 5-8 guard from nearby Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach led the Lady Monarchs in scoring 13 times, recorded five 20 + point games, and reached double digit scoring 25 times.

Grant set a new Old Dominion record after connecting on 17 free throws in a game reseting the record held by Nancy Lieberman that was set back on January 10, 1978. Additionally, she ranks 15th on the all-time scoring leaders list with 1,447 career points and eighth on the all-time assists list with 376 career dishes.
