WILLIAMSBURG, VA-- William and Mary (15-12/2-5 )defeated Old Dominion, 3-1Friday night despite a career high ten strikeout performance by juniorDana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.).

Tribe pitchers Forrest Cory and Joe Kantakevich combined for a two-hitter.Cory walked four and fanned five in eight innings. Arrowood pitched eightinnings, allowing eight hits, four walks and ten strikeouts.

ODU scored first as Chris Keenan came home on Bryan Cipolla's sacrifice fly.William and Mary came back with two runs in the bottom of the first asJon Rhymes scored when Mike DeCarlo hit into a double-play. Brent McWhorter then scored on a wild pitch.

McWhorter scored again in the third inning on an ODU outfield error onChris Rahl's sacrifice fly.

ODU threatened in the seventh with two outs when C.J. Jacinto reached on anerror and Jesse Schoendienst walked, but were left stranded. EvanChipman had both of ODU's hits, a single in the first and a single in theeighth inning.

The two teams will play game two of the three-game CAA series Saturdayat 4 p.m. in Plumeri Park.
