NORFOLK, VA.--Old Dominion (16-16) erupted for six runs in thesixth inning and senior James Burok (Archbald, PA.) pitched two scoreless innings of relief as the Monarchs defeated Longwood (8-18), 7-5.

With Longwood leading, 2-1 in the sixth, Chris Keenan (Chesapeake, VA.) led the inning off with a double, and Bryan Cipolla (Plainview, NY.) singled him home. Patrick Nichols (Chesapeake, VA.) then doubled home Cipolla. Tyler Belcher (Bristol, VA.) scored on an error, and Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.) singled homeJustin Gregula (Washington, PA.) and Nichols. Jesse Schoendienst (Belcamp, MD.) finished the scoring with a single to bring home Steven Harris (Virginia Beach, VA.).

Longwood came back in the top of the seventh with the bases loaded, scoring three unearned runs on an ODU error and single by Louis Ulrich. In the LongwoodFifth inning, Chris Balus sacrifice fly scored Joe Bott. In the sixth Bott singled home Travis Lydon, but Robert Gillis was thrown out at the plate trying to score on thesame play.

James Burok came in and pitched the final two innings for ODU, fanningfour and allowing one hit and one walk. He now has three saves on the season whilejunior righthander Kyle Dubois (Virginia Beach, VA.) picked up his third win ofthe year. Patrick Nichols led ODU with two hits, while Travis Lydon, Joe Bott, Nickvon Gersdorff and Louis Ulrich each had two hits for the Lancers.

Hunter Hall pitched five innings and allowed one run and struckout fivewith no decision. Longwood starter Clay Horn gave up six runs, but four wereunearned. ODU returns to action this weekend with a three-game CAA series atWilliam and Mary beginning Friday at 7 p.m. Longwood stays in Norfolk toplay NSU Wednesday.
