Norfolk - Wendy Larry, the head women's basketball coach at Old Dominion University, has accepted an offer to extend her contract through the 2009/10 season.
"I am delighted that Wendy, who has done an outstanding job of directing our women's basketball program for the past two decades, remains committed to Lady Monarch basketball on a long-term basis," says athletic director Jim Jarrett. "Wendy is one of our University's most successful alumni, and she is a great ambassador for our program, the University and women's basketball on a national level."
Larry completed her 18th season at Old Dominion with a 426-142 record and 475-173 overall head coaching record. Her Lady Monarch squad captured their 14th straight CAA tournament title earlier in March and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the 17th time in her career at ODU. Larry's current contract expired with the University on March 31.
"I enjoy living and being an active member of the Hampton Roads community and I especially love being a part of the Old Dominion University family, " says Larry. "I have accepted the contract offered by Old Dominion and look forward to leading the Lady Monarch Basketball Program into a successful future."
