Liberty Holds Off Monarchs, 6-4

NORFOLK, VA--Paul Keller knocked in two runs while Travis Johnson andAdam Kearney each scored twice to lead the Flames of Liberty University (13-3) toa 6-4 victory over Old Dominion (12-10) Tuesday afternoon.

Evan Chipman (Raleigh, NC.) and Bryan Cipolla (Plainview, NY.) each knocked in two runs for the Monarchs. Chipman singled home Keenan in the third and Cipolla singled home Chipman. In the ninth inning Chipman doubled home Keith Hahn (ValleyStream, NY.) and Cipolla singled home Chipman. Chris Zuvich came on in the ninth for Liberty to get the final two outs and the save.

Paul Keller singled home Adam Kearney and Travis Johnson in the sixth inningto give Liberty a 6-2 lead. Aaron Gilliard singled home Travis Johnson in the second inning for the Flames first run. In the third inning Jeff Brown and Aaron Grijalva eachKnocked in runs. In the fifth inning, Adam Kearney scored on a Monarch throwing error.

Matt Hensley pitched six-plus innings for Liberty scattering seven hits and allowing only two runs to pick up his first win of the season. ODU returns to action onWednesday when they host Richmond at 3 p.m.
