Burok, Arrowood and Chipman Named Co-Captains

NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University head baseball coach Jerry MeyersAnnounced that seniors James Burok (Archbald, PA.), Evan Chipman (Raleigh, NC.) and junior Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.) have been selected as co-captains. The Monarchs have also added four players to the roster for the upcoming Spring season.

Burok, a righthand pitcher carries a 3.95 grade point average in finance, and earned Academic All-State honors last year. He is also a dean's list student and member of the CAA All-Academic squad. Chipman is a two-year starting outfielder who led the team in with 37 stolen bases the past two years. Arrowood hit .308 for ODU last year and was 5-4 as a relief Pitcher.

Joining the Monarchs this spring are Bryan Hansen (Vass, NC.), Kevin Gunter(Richland, NJ.), David Wagner (Johnstown, PA.) and C.J. Jacinto (Virginia Beach, Va.).

Gunter, a righthander was 8-2 with a 3.53 earned run average for Gloucester County Community College. He also earned All-State honors at Buena Regional HighSchool. Lefthander Bryan Hansen pitched for Kishwaukee Junior College and was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays. C.J. Jacinto from nearby Bayside High School hit.340 at Pitt Community College with ten homers and 30 stolen bases, while sophomoreDavid Wagner comes to ODU from the University of Pittsburgh after going 8-2 withA 1.50 earned run average at McCort High School.

They join newcomers Kyle Dubois (Virginia Beach, VA.), Matthew Hudgins(Virginia Beach, VA.), Chris Kennan (Chesapeake, VA.), Patrick Nichols (Chesapeake,VA.), Irvin Sleighter (Chambersburg, PA.), and Matthew Walls (Falls Church, VA.)On this year's roster. The Monarchs open the regular season on Friday, Feb. 11 with a three-game Series against Radford.
