CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA- Three pitchers scattered four hits as the Universityof Virginia defeated Old Dominion, 8-0 at Davenport field.
Robert Poutier, Scott Morgenthaler and Sean Doolittle held ODU to fourhits with three walks and three strikeouts.
Steven Harris, Eric Mesa, Jesse Schoendienst and pinchhitterBrooks Sinnen each got a hit for the Monarchs.
The Cavaliers were led by TOm Hagan who went 3-for-3 and knocked intwo runs, scored twice and hit two doubles.
ODU threatened early as the Monarchs loaded the bases with no outs butwere unable to score a run and stranded all three baserunners in thetop of the first inning. Steven Harris and Kieth Hahn walked, thenthe Cavs committed an error, but starter Robert Poutier excaped the inning.
The Monarchs return to action on Friday with a three game seriesat home against the Retrievers of the University of Maryland-BaltimoreCounty. Friday's game begins at 3 p.m..
