Old Dominion Falls to DePaul, 73-60

ROSEMONT, Ill. (AP) - Quemont Greer scored 23 points and grabbed 12 reboundsSunday to lead DePaul to a 73-60 win over Old Dominion.

Drake Diener had 16 points for DePaul (8-3) and Sammy Mejia returned from aone-game absence to score 11 for the Blue Demons in their third straight.

Arnaud Dahi led Old Dominion with acareer high 19 points and Valdas Vasylius added 18, oneshy of his career high asthe Monarchs saw their seven-game winning streak end.

Sammy Mejia entered the game with 9:31 remaining in the first half and his basketwith 33 seconds left gave DePaul a 30-29 lead at the break. The Blue Demonscame out firing in the second half, going on a 13-2 run started by Dienerhitting two consecutive 3-point baskets. Marlon Brumfield's jump shot with 3:10left capped a 12-4 run to put DePaul up 67-50 and the game out of OldDominion's reach.

In the first half DePaul led by six, 23-17 with 6:02 left, but ODU cameback to tie the game at 23 (3:44) on a pair of treys by Kiah Thomas and Isaiah Hunter. After a Thomas basket with 1:08 left, ODU led by four ,29-25, but Greer hit a three, and Mejia hit a two with 31 seconds left togive DePaul, a 30-29 halftime lead.

The Monarchs struggled to find any offensive rhythm, shooting 9 for 25 inthe second half and just 38.5 percent overall.

DePaul shot 45 percent overall and was 14 for 20 from the free throw line inthe second half. Diener was 3 for 4 from the line, missing his first free throwafter connecting on 30 straight dating back to last March.

The Monarchs travel to Philadelphia to start up CAA play on Wednesdaynight at Drexel. Game time is 7 p.m.
