NORFOLK, VA  -The Old Dominion men's soccer team advanced to the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament semifinals Tuesday night, defeating William & Mary 2-0 at the ODU Soccer Stadium.  The Monarchs will face #2 seed James Madison Friday night at 8:00 at VCU's Sports Backers Stadium in Richmond.  Senior Forward Kyle Hartley (Virginia Beach, VA/Kempsville) scored early in the first half for ODU, while Senior Midfielder Kevon  Harris (Kingston, Jamaica) scored the insurance goal midway through the second half.  ODU improves to 12-4-2 for the season, while William & Mary drops to 9-7-4.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

Kyle Hartley put the Monarchs on the board first, in the 10th minute of the game, connecting off a Brian Cvilikas (Highlands Ranch, CO) assist.  ODU remained up 1-0 until the 67th minute of the game when Kevon Harris scored off a Penalty Kick to extend the Monarch lead to 2-0.

 

For the game, ODU out-shot the Tribe 12-6, while both teams had three corner kicks.  Goalkeeper John Connelly (Rockville, MD) made three saves in earning his eighth shutout of the season.  The Monarchs extended their home unbeaten streak to 26 games and their home winning streak to 21 games.

 

In other CAA action, #5 seed Hofstra upset #4 seed UNC-Wilmington 2-0 and will advance to play #1 seed Virginia Commonwealth Friday night at 5:30.  The ODU-JMU game will follow at 8:00.  The championship game will be Sunday afternoon at 2:00.
