NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion senior guard Shareese Grant (Va. Beach, Va.) earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week honors for the week ending November 28th it was announced Monday afternoon by the conference office. Grant averaged 20.0 points against ACC opponents Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech last week.
In the season opener at Georgia Tech, Grant led her team with 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting and also became the 24th Lady Monarch in history to net 1,000 career points. She is currently moving fast up the all-time scoring leaders list, currently ranking 23rd with 1,035 career points.
In the 87-56 home-opening victory against the Hokies, Grant led all scorers with 22 and dished out a game-high six assists as Old Dominion handed Virginia Tech its largest loss since February of 2002. Her performance helped Old Dominion win its 18th straight game at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
Grant currently leads the CAA in scoring and ranks fifth in assists (4.00) and eighth in field goal percentage (.486).
The Lady Monarch women's basketball team returns to action this week as they close out a three-game homestand. Old Dominion hosts East Tennessee State in the first ever meeting between the two schools on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Monarchs then host annual rival Rutgers on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
