NORFOLK, VA  - Paul Dudley scored a goal in the third minute of overtime to lift the Duke Blue Devils to a 2-1 victory over #12 seed Old Dominion Tuesday night at the ODU Soccer Stadium.  With the win, Duke, 16-5, advances to the third round and will face Ohio State.  Senior Forward Kyle Hartley (Virginia Beach, VA/Kempsville) scored the lone goal for the Monarchs, late in the second half, to lead the ODU charge.  ODU falls to 13-6-2 for the season.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

After a scoreless 73 minutes of action, Duke's Blake Camp connected on a Penalty Kick to put the Blue Devils on the board first.  The score remained 1-0 until the 82nd minute of play when Junior Forward Brian Cvilikas (Highlands Ranch, CO) fed the ball to Kyle Hartley to tie the game at 1-1.  In the overtime period, Paul Dudley shot the ball from 25 yards out to seal the Duke victory.

"He struck the ball as well as you can," ODU Head Coach Alan Dawson said of Dudley's goal.  "We felt like we had the momentum going into the overtime period, but they won a few second balls and he kicked the ball."

Brian Cvilikas had several shots on goal in the second half, but was unable to get it past Duke's senior goalkeeper Justin Trowbridge.

"He's a senior keeper," Dawson said.  "He's a solid keeper and he's very, very good in goal.  He hasn't allowed a lot of goals this season."

Tuesday night's game was the final game of senior Kyle Hartley's career.

"It's upsetting," Hartley said.  "I thought we controlled the second half.  I thought we were the better team."

For the game, Duke out-shot the Monarchs 13-9 and had a 6-4 corner kicks edge.  Redshirt Junior goalkeeper John Connelly (Rockville, MD) made three saves for the game, allowing two goals.  Duke's Justin Trowbridge made four saves and allowed one goal.

Duke will face Ohio State in the third round this weekend.  The time and site has yet to be determined.
