RICHMOND, VA -The Old Dominion women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss to Virginia Commonwealth Thursday night at Sports Backers Stadium. The Lady Monarchs fall to 8-7-2 for the season and 4-3-1 in the Colonial Athletic Association, while VCU improves to 12-6-0 and 5-3-0 in the CAA, moving past ODU in the CAA standings.
After a scoreless first half, Leigh Anthony got the Rams on the board in the 49th minute, with a goal from eight yards out, off an assist by Jen Parsons. Jen Parsons extended the VCU lead to 2-0 in the 66th minute, scoring her 14th goal of the season, off an assist by Hedda Gardsjord.
For the game, VCU out-shot the Lady Monarchs 18-3 and had a 7-1 corner kicks edge. Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Miller (Plymouth Meeting, PA) saved eight shots for the game, allowing two goals.
The Lady Monarchs end their regular season Saturday afternoon, when they take on UNC-Wilmington on the road at 2:00.
