Five ODU Alumni To Compete In Olympic Games

SEATTLE, WA-- The Seattle Storm defeated Connecticut, 74-60 to win its first WNBA Championship making Old Dominion University basketball greatAnne Donovan ('83) the first female coach to win the league championship.

Donovan is also the only coach in WNBA history to take two differentteams to the WNBA finals. In 2001, she took Charlotte to the 2001 Finalsagainst Los Angeles.

Back in August, Donovan served as an assistant coach with the goldmedal winning U.S. Women's basketball Olympic team.

Donovan is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, the ODU Sports Hall of Fame, the VirginiaSports Hall of Fame, and the CoSIDA Academic All-American Hall of Fame.She is also a three-time Olympian as a player.

Donovan remains ODU's career scoring (2719 points), career rebounding(1976 rebounds), and career blocked shots (801). In addition, she wasa three-time All-American and 1983 Naismith National Player of the Year.
