NORFOLK, VA -The Old Dominion women's soccer team returned to their winning ways Sunday afternoon, defeating the University of Arkansas 3-1 at the ODU Soccer Stadium. Junior forward Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA) scored a goal and assisted on a score for ODU. The Lady Monarchs now have a four-game home unbeaten streak. ODU improves to 3-3-1 for the season, while Arkansas falls to 4-4-3.
Heather Vaughan (Virginia Beach, VA/Princess Anne) scored for the Lady Monarchs 24:30 into the game, off a free kick to give ODU the 1-0 lead. Laura Beeman connected with the goal 13 minutes later, off a Lisa McKenzie (Inverness, Scotland) assist. Just 27 seconds into the second half, Bea Gugliotti (Avon, CT) scored off a Laura Beeman assist to give the Lady Monarchs the 3-0 lead. With less than five minutes left in the game, Christina Burger scored for the Lady Razorbacks, off a Megan McCool assist to make the score 3-1.
For the game, ODU out-shot Arkansas 13-6 and had a 2-1 corner kicks advantage. Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Miller (Plymouth Meeting, PA) made three saves and allowed a goal.
The Lady Monarchs return to action Friday night, September 24, when they travel to Towson for a Colonial Athletic Association match-up.
