NORFOLK, VA--Old Dominion University head baseball coach Jerry Meyersannounced today that Matt Reid (Richmond, VA.) will serve as the Monarchs volunteerassistant coach. Reid, a graduate of the University of Richmond served as an administrative assistant last year at Virginia Commonwealth.

Prior to working at VCU, Reid served on the coaching staffs of VMI andLouisburg College (NC.).

Reid played four years at the University of Richmond where he was theirstarting second baseman as a junior and senior. He led the Spiders with 12 sacrificebunts in 2000. The Spiders won the CAA in 1998 and received an atlarge berthto the NCAA in 1999 where Reid got a hit in a game against top seed Wake Forest.

A graduate of Collegiate High School in Richmond, Reid earned All-Prepand All-State honors, going 7-0 and hitting .460 as a senior. Reid graduated fromRichmond in 2001 with a degree in sports administration. Reid is currently workingtowards a Master's degree in sport leadership. His internship with the PittsburghPirates over the summer included working with baseball operations in breaking down video of upcoming opponents and in-game film.

Reid's father Jim is currently the defensive line Coach at Syracuse University, and was head football coach at Richmond for nine years where he earned Conference Coach of the Year honors three times.

Reid joins Ryan Morris, and Eric Folmar to complete the Monarch coachingstaff.
