NORFOLK, VA--Former Old Dominion University basketball player Reggie Bassette (Richmond, VA. '99) was named the Korean Basketball League Center of theYear and first team All-league selection as he led KCC Egis to the playoff championship.
Egis defeated defending champion TG Xers, 83-71 in game seven of the league finals. Bassette scored 25 points and hauled in 15 rebounds in the final game. Egis (35-15) was second in the 10-team regular season.
The 6-10 Bassette averaged 5.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in 1997 as theMonarchs compiled a 22-11 record, capturing the CAA title and playing New Mexicoin the NCAA first round. As a senior, Bassette averaged 9.8 points and 7.6 rebounds per game for the Monarchs during the 1998-99 season. That year, ODU tied a school record for wins with a 25-9 record, reached the CAA finals against George Mason. ODU then defeated Seton Hall in the first round of the NIT, before losing at Butler in the next round
Bassette is ODU's fifth all-time shot blocker with 199 (1.7 ), and the school's16th all-time rebounder with 658. He hauled in a single-game career high 17 rebounds in 1997 against William and Mary.
