DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Christina Quaye scored 24 points and hit a go-aheadlayup with 5.8 seconds left Sunday to lift Marquette past Old Dominion 67-64 inthe first round of the NCAA tournament.

Quaye, a freshman, had 11 in the final six minutes for the ninth-seededGolden Eagles (22-9), who are making their first NCAA appearance in four years.She went 10-for-15 from the floor and had eight rebounds.

The Golden Eagles advanced to play the Duke-Northwestern State winner inTuesday's second round of the Mideast Regional.

Shareese Grant scored 19 points to lead the eighth-seeded Lady Monarchs(25-7), who shot 46 percent but committed 20 turnovers. Marquette scored 20points off those turnovers and scored 15 second-chance points off 19 offensiverebounds.

With the score tied at 64, Crystal Weaver saved a bad pass from going out ofbounds, then found Quaye all alone under the basket. Quaye scored and drew anintentional foul on Paula Muxiri with 5.8 seconds left.

Quaye hit one of two free throws for the three-point lead. Grant tied upKelly Schwerman on the inbound pass to get possession with 2.4 seconds to play,but Marianthi Koukouvino's desperation 3-pointer missed.
