NORFOLK, VA-Sophomore outfielder Keith Hahn(Valley Stream, NY.) knocked in three runs to lead the Monarchs of Old Dominion to a 8-4 victory over Rutgers Sunday afternoon. Brandon Carter(Sacramento,CA.) and Bryan Cipolla (Plainview, NY.) each scored three times as ODU evened its record to 5-5, while Rutgers is 3-3.
Hahn singled in Cipolla in the second and sixth innings, and knocked inSteven Harris (Va. Beaach, VA.-Kellam)in the seventh. Cipolla had two hits on the day, while Brandon Carter had three hits and stole a base.
Rutgers was led by Rich Canuso with two hits, including a two-run homer inthe fifth. Graig Badger also had two hits for the Scarlet Knights.
Freshman Andrew Bucher (Va. Beach, VA.-Tallwood) picked up his firstcollegiate win in relief. He fanned four in two-plus innings of work. Junior DonnieSmith(Portsmouth, Va.-Norcom) fanned six in his first start of the season. ODU returns to action On Tuesday when they travel to George Washington, then on Wednesday when they host Norfolk State at 3 p.m.
