HARRISONBURG, VA - Old Dominion won the first ninebouts en route to a 42-3 victory against host James Madisonin Colonial Athletic Association wrestling Thursday night atJMU's Sinclair Gym in Godwin Hall.
The Monarchs improved to 5-12 overall and to 4-3 in the CAA.The Dukes fell to 2-16 overall, 1-9 in the CAA.
The Monarchs took control early, gaining six points with aforfeit at 125 pounds and then getting back-to-back fallsfrom sophomore Chris Buckner (Chesapeake, Va./Deep Creek) andfreshman Mike Davis (Herndon, VA).
Sophomore Adam Wright (Dayton, VA)returned to his Valley home to registered a five-pointtechnical fall for the Monarchs in the 184-pound bout.Wright raised his record to 25-8 overall. Senior heavyweightDerrell Lorthridge (Wilmington, DE) improved hisrecord to a team-best 31-8 with an 8-5 decision.
JMU's lone victory was by senior Justin Gronlie. Making his finalhome appearance, Gronlie posted a 7-4 decision at 197 pounds. Thewin upped his season's record to 10-13.
