FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -Four Old Dominion University sailing alumni and one current Monarch sailor are currently competing in the U.S Sailing Olympic Trials in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Currently, Junior Anna Tunnicliffe (Perrysburg, OH), the winner of the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship in November, is 4th place in the Europe Dinghy Class with 24 points. Only the top finisher goes to the Olympics, but a top-five showing will secure Tunnicliffe a spot on the US National Team.

In the Yngling class, former Monarchs Sally Barkow and Debbie Capozzi, along with Howe, are currently in first place. Charlie Ogletree is currently first in the Tornado Class and Ward Cromwell is currently 5th in the Tornado Class. This is Cromwell's second trial this season. He also crewed in the men's 470 trials which were held in November, finishing third. Also finishing third in November was Brad Funk, who sailed in the Laser Trials.
