Old Dominion Head Coach Wendy Larry:
"The first five minutes were pretty good. Rebound and run is probably what we do best right now. What a good job Monique Coker and Max (Nhassengo) did on the rebound! It nice to have people who can get the boards." (Monique had 12 defensive boards - 14 total and Max had six offensive boards - nine total).
"Our bench, Shantel (Wilson), Tish (Lyons), and Paula (Muxiri) did some great things. They have really stepped up and gave us consistent minutes."
On Lawona Davis:
"She is attacking much better. She goes hard and lays it in easy, with a nice touch. She can jump over anyone out there. Sky is the limit for her and she is definitely turned the corner for us."
On George Mason:
"George Mason does a good job limiting people's shooting percentage. As far as their well-known shooters, they had no choice but to put the ball on the floor. Their long ball shooters were non-factors to us in this game."
Old Dominion Sophomore Forward Lawona Davis
"I like to step up and do my part so I can open up more things for my teammates and give other teammates a breath. We tried to make the Constant Center our house and I believe we have. We want to give our fans something to look forward to every game. It's easy to come out with energy when you're at home and we are working on taking that energy on the road with us."
Old Dominion Senior Forward Monique Coker:
"What we are missing on road games is intensity and when you're at home, it's already there. Our bench players really stepped up. Tisha (Lyons) was a great start off the bench, Shantel (Wilson) gave some good passes, and Paula (Muxiri) was being really aggressive. It was good that we kept our intensity and the bench kept it for us. It is fun to play together as a team. We just had that chemistry today and we enjoyed ourselves."
On GMU's Jen Derevjanik:
"I used to play against her in high school for three years and we never beat her. Now, that we're in college, she hasn't beat us. She's a great player and a good offensive leader but we got the best of them tonight."
George Mason Head Coach: Debbie Taneyhill
"We were 1-13 (from the three-point line) and we got the looks but they just did not go. We have good shooters but they did not get the chance to shoot that many shots. Laura (Kooji), who shot 14 shots our last game, got shut down to only five shots this whole game."
"I thought Old Dominion was a much better team today. They took us to school as far as a midrange game goes. We shot poorly in the first half and we got some good looks, but they just didn't hit. We just let them score. Our second half was a little better."
George Mason Senior Guard Jen Derevjanik
"We just have to work on our shots and take better care of the ball. Their pressure defense definitely hurt us. We have to get Laura (Kooji) more looks."
