#5 BOSTON COLLEGE VS #12 OLD DOMINION

Old Dominion:

The loss snaps Old Dominion's ten game winning-streak which dated back toFebruary 16th with a 99-69 over CAA rival Hofstra. The defeat also halteda seven-game home winning streak. The Lady Monarchs last home lossoccurred on January 31st with a 59-67 to the BIG EAST's Rutgers.

Junior forward Monique Coker recorded her team leading ninth double-doubleof the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds. It was the second time inthe last three games she recorded double digit points and rebounds. Shealso has scored in double figures in six of the last seven games, includingthe last four straight.

With Old Dominion controlling the boards, 38-31, they outbounded itsopponent for the 12th straight game. However, the Lady Monarchs but fellto is 21-4 when outrebounding their opponent.

It was Old Dominion's first loss when the Lady Monarchs had four or moreplayers score in double figures.

Old Dominion fell to 32-19 all-time in NCAA Tournament play. It was thethird time hat the Lady Monarchs fell in the first round of the tournament.Old Dominion's last exit from the tournament in the first round was in 2001with a 65-67 loss to Washington in Gainesville, Florida. That season, theLady Monarchs were an 11 seed in the West Region.

It was Old Dominion's first loss on its home court in the NCAA Tournamentfor the first time since 1993. In 1993 they fell in the second round ofthe East Region to Iowa, 56-82. Iowa eventually advanced to the FinalFour.

Boston College:

Senior guard Brianne Stepherson's nine assists were the most by a BostonCollege play in a post season game. As a team, the Eagles tied their NCAATournament team record with 19 total assists. Boston College also had itsbest performance from the free throw line shooting 14-of-15 from the lineto shoot 93.3 percent.

Boston College improves to 3-3 in the NCAA Tournament and advances to thesecond round for the third time in school history. In 2000, the Eaglesdefeated Nebraska, 93-76, in the Mideast Region and in 1999, in their firstever NCAA Tournament appearance, Boston College handed Ohio State a 72-59loss in the East Region in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The Eagles switched roles this season as last year Boston College, alsothen a fifth seed, fell to 12th seeded Mississippi State in the first roundof the West Region in Lubbock, TX, 59-65.

The Eagle victory was the first ever against Old Dominion. The teams havenow each won one game in the series. Old Dominion has previously defeatedBoston College 82-64 back on January 27, 1988.

Amber Jacbos, who scored the game-winner and finished with a game-high 23points, scored at least 20 points for the fifth time this season.
