NORFOLK, VA -- Senior forward Monique Coker (Bronx, NY) earned her second Colonial Athletic Association weekly honor as she was named CAA Co-Player of the Week along with Towson's Kacy O'Brien. Coker averaged 17.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per contest as ODU went 1-1 against two Top 25 opponents last week.
In the Lady Monarchs' 79-72 loss at #19 Virginia Tech on Wednesday, Coker posted her fourth double-double of the season with 18 points (7-for-12, 58.3% FG shooting) and 10 rebounds. Coker narrowly missed another double-double with a team-high 17 points and nine boards in ODU's 73-68 upset win over #12 North Carolina on Sunday. It was the Lady Monarchs' second win over a Top 25 opponent this season, with the other coming against then-ranked #7 Penn State on Nov. 11. Coker added 10 assists, five steals and three blocks in the two games.
Additionally, the senior, who scored her 1,000th career point last week, moved into 22nd place on the all-time ODU scoring list with her 1,048th career point.
The Lady Monarchs return to action next Monday when they host Florida International. Old Dominion will welcome back Golden Panther coaches Inge Nissen and Cindy Russo, former Lady Monarch greats.
