NORFOLK, VA -- Senior forward Monique Coker (Bronx, NY) was named the Colonial Athletic Association women' basketball Player of the Week for the week ending November 30th after averaging 20.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in two Lady Monarch victories this week. The victories included a 75-68 upset victory over seventh ranked Penn State on Tuesday night and a 75-61 win over Charlotte on Sunday.
Coker netted a career-high 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Lady Monarchs to an upset victory over seventh-ranked Penn State, giving ODU its first win over a Top 10 team since defeating Connecticut in February of 1999. On Sunday, Coker again led the attack collecting her third double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 boards, in addition to a career-high seven blocks and five steals, in the Lady Monarchs' win over Charlotte. With her first bucket Sunday afternoon, Coker became the 23rd Lady Monarch to score 1,000 career points. On the week, Coker averaged 20.0 ppg and 11.5 rpg in 77 minutes, blocked nine shots and recorded six steals.
The Lady Monarchs return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to Blackburg, Virginia to take on the undefeated Virginia Tech Hokies..
