Lady Monarchs Take Out No. 7 Penn State, 75-68

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Monique Coker had 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead OldDominion to a 75-68 victory Tuesday night over seventh-ranked Penn State.

Coker was 10-for-13 from the field, and Old Dominion (2-2) held leading PennState scorer Kelly Mazzante to 14 points. Jess Strom and Reicina Russell pacedthe Lady Lions (1-1) with 17 points each.

Max Nhassengo added 16 points, 13 in the second half, and Shareese Grant had14 for the Lady Monarchs.

Trailing much of the game, Penn State pulled to 69-64 after Jessica Brungoand Mazzante scored consecutive 3-pointers with just over one minute left. ButOld Dominion hit six of eight foul shots down the stretch to secure the win.

The Lady Monarchs pulled away earlier in the second half, scoring ninestraight points in just over a minute to make it 61-46 with 7:13 remaining. Itwas Old Dominion's largest lead of the game. Coker had a 3-pointer and aputback underneath during the spurt.

Penn State, normally a good 3-point shooting team, struggled from behind thearc, making six of 20. Old Dominion's pesky defense also came up with eightsteals and harassed the Lady Lions into committing 16 turnovers.

The Lady Monarchs opened a nine-point lead early in the first half, whenMyriah Spence's 3-pointer capped a 10-0 run to make it 16-7 with 13:29 to go.ODU led 38-27 at the half.
