ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Anna Tunnicliffe (Perrysburg, OH) is off to a good start in her attempt to defend her Intercollegiate Sailing Association/Vanguard Women's Singlehanded Championship title, placing first after the first day of competition with 15 points at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. During the day, Tunnicliffe had finishes of 1st, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 5th in the five races run during Friday racing. Racing resumes Saturday and will conclude Sunday as Tunnicliffe vies to retain her Janet Lutz Trophy, that goes to the winner of the ICSA Women's Singlehanded Championships. A repeat performance would give ODU sailing its 14th national championship.
