NORFOLK, VA-- Have you been feeling a little stressed with class work lately?Trip on over to the Constant Center for a men's or women's basketball game and relaxin the newest addition to the student section - a hot spring portable spa, courteseyof Great Atlantic.
The promotion will kick off on Sunday, Dec.7 when the Lady Monarchs take on NorthCarolina at 2 p.m. in the Hoops for a Cure game, supporting local breast healthservices as well as breast cancer research. Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, which nationllysupports breast cancer awareness, will be the first University group to earn the right to usethe spa during the game.
The promotion will resume second semester, beginning with the women's contest vsTowson on Jan. 15 and continute at every home men's and women's game through Feb.28. All University recognized organizations are eligible to participate in the promotion,and interested groups must register in the Student Activities office. Groups mustcommit to bring a minimum of 25 members to the game, and no more than six members maybe in the spa at anytime. Additionally, particpants must wear bathing suits undert-shirts, and shirts may represent the organization or Old Dominion only.
At the completion of the season, the group that has demonstrated the most spirit,creativity and support from its organization will be awarded $500 for Great Atlantic,and a leisure prize pack from athletics. Additionally, fans (18 and older) will beprovided the chance to win the hot spring spa, by registering at the Guest Services boothat the games.
Great Atlantic has four showrooms in Hampton Roads, in Virginia Beach (2), Yorktownand Kitty Hawks, NC. Founded in 1978 by Rich Werber (ODU'73) and MA'76), GreatAtlantic was one of the first hot tub retailers on the EAst Coast. Werber also servesas the advisor for Theta Chi fraternity on campus and his wife and co-owner Eileen is thepresident and the founding member of the Tidewater affiliate of the Susan G. Komen BreastCancer Foundation.
