NORFOLK, VA-- The Old Dominion University Lady Monarchs will be playing for more thana victory on the court on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m., when they take on nationalpower North Carolina at the Constant Center -- they will also be playing for a cure.
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Tidewater Affiliate and area hospitalshave joined forces with Old Dominion and designated the Dec. 7 contest as"Hoops for a Cure". A pre-game Women's Health Expo will kick-off the day's eventsat noon on the Constant Center plaza, featuring live music by Broad Street, themobile mammography unit and information booths on women's health issues. Halftimeactivities will include a performance by Jazzercise and recognition of local survivors.
Tickets for the game are $13. For every ticket sold by the hospitals and the KomenFoundaton, $6 will benefit the Komen Tidewater Affiliate and fund local breast healthservices as well as breast cancer research. Tickets may be purchased by calling theKomen office at 490-7794 or from the following hospitals: Obici (Suffolk),Riverside Regional Medical Center (Newport News), the Sentara Cancer Institue-Peninsula,Sentara Norfolk General Cancer Institue, Sentara Virginia Beach Cancer Institute,and Chesapeake Health.
