Men's And Women's Tennis Reaches Finals Of Several Flights At Old Point National Bank Invite

NEWPORT NEWS, VA -- The Monarch and Lady Monarch tennis teams had several impressive showings on the final day of action at the Old Point National Bank Invitational. Among the finalists were senior Calin Milos (Timisoara, Romania) in Flight B singles, sophomore Kerstin Endlich (Neustadt, Germany) and senior Nataly Cahana (Qiriat Bialik, Israel) in Flight A Doubles, and both Monarch doubles teams of senior Zoltan Csanadi (Timisoara, Romania) and sophomore Adriano Mello (Londrina, Brazil) and Milos and senior Niklas Oskarsson (Halmstead, Sweden) in Flight A doubles.

On the women's side, Kerstin Endlich and Nataly Cahana defeated CAA rivals Jennifer Dektas and Jamie Delorie of George Mason, 8-0, to start off the Flight A women's doubles bracket. The duo followed with an 8-2 decision over local rivals Elena Besedova and Kristyna Pesatova of Hampton, but fell to Virginia's Lauren Bruch and Mariko Fritz-Krockow, 8-5, in the finals.

In singles action for the men, Calin Milos advanced to the finals of the Flight B men's singles bracket. After blanking Hofstra's Carlos Campo, 6-0, 6-0, Milos proceeded to knock off Virginia's Nick Meythaler, 6-3, 6-4, to reach the bracket final. After dropping the first set, 6-4, to N.C. State's Conor Taylor, Milos rallied back to take the second set, 6-3, but fell in the next set, 6-3.

In other singles action, Zoltan Csanadi reached the semifinals of the Flight A men's singles bracket. Csanadi defeated three straight CAA opponents, including Francesc Lleal of Virginia Commonwealth in the quarterfinals, 6-2, 6-2. However in the semi's, VCU's Arnaud Lecloerec halted Csanadi's run handing the senior Monarch a 6-2 (3), 6-2 loss.

In Flight A men's doubles, it was an all Monarch final. Both Zoltan Csanadi and teammate Adriano Mello reached the final match-up of the bracket along with fellow Monarch doubles team of Calin Milos and Niklas Oskarsson. Csanadi and Mello prevailed with an 8-6 victory to claim the title.
