BERKELEY, CA- Freshman Kevin McMenamin (West Springfield, VA.) first halfgoal lifted the Monarchs of Old Dominion University to a 1-0 victory over #19th rankedand tournament host California in the seventh annual Adidas Classic Friday evening. ODU is now 2-0 on the season.
McMenamin's goal came in the first four minutes of the match on an assist fromjunior midfielder Kevon Harris (Kingston, Jamaica). The goal was McMenamin's firstcollegiate goal and Harris' second assist of the season.
The Golden Bears (1-1-1) outshot ODU, 10-3, but the Monarchs senior goalkeeperSamuel Cameron (Raleigh, NC.) came up with four saves to post his second straight shutoutof the season and tenth of his collegiate career. ODU will play #5 Stanford on Sunday in thesecond round of the Adidas Classic. ODU last played Stanford in 1995 and hold a 2-1 edgein the series.
