NORFOLK, VA - Another brilliant defensive effort by the fourth-ranked Old Dominion men's soccer team earned the Monarchs their seventh consecutive shut-out, defeating the University of Maryland at Baltimore County 2-0. Brian Cvilikas (Highlands Ranch, CO) scored a goal in the first half, off an assist by Ryan Sniegoski (Boxborough, MA). Kevin McMenamin (Springfield, MA) had a second half goal for the Monarchs.
Trevor McEachron (Woodbridge, VA) saved ODU's shut-out streak in the first half, saving a shot with his head in a dramatic chain of events. Brian Cvilikas scored a first half goal off an assist by Ryan Sniegoski. Kevin McMenamin added to the effort in the second half, scoring a second goal.
Senior Monarch goalkeeper Sam Cameron (Raleigh, NC) earned yet another shut-out and has still not allowed a goal this season. For the game, he had eight saves. UMBC's goalkeeper, Andy Marchica also had eight saves in the game, but allowed the two goals.
Fourth-ranked ODU remains undefeated for the season with a 7-0-0 record. UMBC, who was previously undefeated, drops to 4-1-2. The Monarchs next travel to Campbell University Saturday, Sept. 27.
