NORFOLK, VA. - Four Towson University Tiger pitchers scattered 13 hits ina 6-1 victory over Old Dominion University Sunday afternoon at the Bud Metheny BaseballComplex. Towson improves to 29-23, 11-9 in the CAA, while the Monarchs are 17-30overall and 5-12 in the CAA.
Jason Seger picked up his fourth win of the year, striking out three and walkingtwo in five innings of work. Jon Tapper, Jason Summerlin and Casper Wells pitched the lastfour innings.
ODU's lone run came on a two-out solo shot in the bottom of the ninth by juniorshortstop Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, MD.). The Monarchs stranded 13 runners and hit intothree inning double plays.
Evan Chipman, Brent Sollenberger, Allen Strick, Brandon LeNoir and Justin Gregulaeach had two hits for ODU.
Brian McKenna singled home Bobby Paduano to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. AdamHeffron singled home McKenna in the fourth inning. In the fifth Mike Costello slammedhis 16th homerun of the season with Shane Justis aboard. In the ninth, Justin singled homeTom Trela, then Bobby Paduano scored on a wild pitch. Paduano led the Tigers with threehits on the day.
Towson travels to UMBC for a 3:00 game on Tuesday, while ODU hosts DukeMonday night at 7 p.m.
