RICHMOND, VA. - Vito Chiaravalloti knocked in four runs to lead 14th rankedRichmond over Old Dominion, 8-3 Monday afternoon at Pitt Field. Richmond is 34-8 onthe year.

ODU got on the board first as Allen Strick (Glen Burnie, MD.) slammed hisfirst homerun of the season to left field. ODU scored in the fifth as Stephen Harris(Va. Beach, VA.) came home on a Spider throwing error. In the sixth freshmanJustin Gregula (Washington, PA.) singled home Dana Arrowood (Woodbridge, VA.).Strick led ODU with two hits on the day.

Chiaravalloti singled home two runs in the third to give Richmond the leadfor good at 3-1. He then slammed a two-run homer in the seventh to complete the Spiderscoring. The victory was the Spiders first since the 2001 season, ending a four-game losingstreak to the Monarchs.

The Monarchs (14-28) break for exams, then host crosstown rival Norfolk State on Fridayat 7 p.m. and travel to William & Mary in a non-conference game on Saturday at 4 p.m.
