WILLIAMSBURG, VA -William and Mary's sixteenth-ranked women's tennis team won its seventh straight game by defeating the Old Dominion Lady Monarchs on Tuesday, 6-1 on the Busch Tennis Courts in Williamsburg, VA. The loss drops the Lady Monarchs to 6-8 overall and 0-2 in CAA play.

Play opened with the Tribe sweeping the doubles point. Junior Nataly Cahana and freshman Maretha van Niekerk stayed close with the country's ninth ranked doubles pair of Kate Boomershine and Candice Fuchs, but were defeated 8-5.

No. 18 junior Nataly Cahana captured ODU's lone victory in singles play, a 6-3, 6-4 decision over #28 Candice Fuchs at the No. 1 spot. Freshman Kerstin Endlich forced three sets against the Tribe's Kate Boomershine at No. 3 singles. However, Boomershine emerged with the victory 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (5).

William and Mary gave up just four games at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 singles. Freshman Maretha van Niekerk was trailing 3-0 against #100 Megan Muth at No. 2 singles before her match was retired.

The Lady Monarch women's tennis team will return to the courts hosting #8 Virginia Commonwealth in CAA play on Friday, April 4th. The match will begin at 2:00 p.m. on the courts in Norfolk.
