LYNCHBURG,VA- Larry Wayne York tripled with the bases loaded in the fifthinning to lead the Flames of Liberty University to a 8-2 victory over Old Dominion Tuesdayafternoon. Michael Koppin (Stephen's Co.,GA.)and Stephen Harris(Va.Beach, VA.) each knocked in a run for the Monarchs.
Harris singled in Pedro Pena in the fourth to give ODU a 1-0 lead. Freshman WayneRenfrow (Va. Beach, VA) held Liberty scoreless until the fifth when with the bases loaded,York cleared them to give the Flames a 3-1 lead. Renfrow fanned a career high six batters infive innings of work. York knocked in four of Liberty's runs.
Trailing 6-1, Michael Koppin hit his first home run as a Monarch, a solo shot in thetop of the seventh. Harris and catcher John Oehler (Audubon, NJ.) each had two hits on theday. Oehler was named CAA Player of the Week earlier in the day after hitting .500 (6-12)with 11 runs batted in over the weekend.
The Monarchs host George Mason to begin the CAA weekend series on Friday nightat 7 p.m. at the Bud Metheny Complex.
