2003 ALLTEL CAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
TED CONSTANT CONVOCATION CENTER * NORFOLK, VA
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME QUOTES
#1 OLD DOMINION VS. #2 DELAWARE

ODU Head Coach, Wendy Larry:
"I told this team that I was the common denominator for the past years but that they would be the first team to ever win the conference title in the new Constant Convocation Center. We decided that we have come to defend our title. We had to battle for this one, we had to compete. We had people rise to the top and we had people take their roles. Okeisha had the role of the quarterback on this team and she has great teammates that believe in her and were ready to pick her up. It is very important to win your home games because it is going to be rough on the road. Seeds don't really mean anything, a lot depends on who you play and where you play them.

On Shareese Grant:
"Before every game we make goals, she wanted to become more verbal and have defensive presence every game. I would say she has accomplished that goal."

On Corrina Turner:
"If you had to pinpoint one thing, it is her, she is confident and enjoying it. We are looking forward to having Miss Turner around for a few more years. She has been a great turn around for this team.

On Allison Trapp:
"She put on a tremendous performance. She played like a senior that did not want her season to end. I give head coach Tina (Martin) credit for what she has done with this team. I hope that both teams can represent the CAA in the tournament.

ODU Freshman Center, Corrina Turner:
"After being here for two years and getting a ring for each but not really being a part of it, it really feels great to partake in this one."

ODU Junior Guard, Shareese Grant:
"Throughout the year my shot wouldn't really fall, this tournament my shots fell and my game was there."

On Allison Trapp:
"She was their go to player, but on my part I had to step it up for my teammates."

Delaware Head Coach, Tina Martin:
"It was a great game, we played with tremendous heart. We, as well as Old Dominion, proved that we are the two best teams in the conference. They played with a lot of energy and a lot of heart. ODU is too good of a team on their home floor and I tip my hat to them. They are champions on their floor. You have got to attack and to ODU's credit, they were getting some shots and some steals. We are trying to get our kids to focus on the next game, at the least NIT. We captured an opportunity."

On Shareese Grant:
"They have so many athletes and being on your home floor makes her a lot more comfortable. To her credit, she knocked down a big shot on the corner and that was the biggest shot of the game."

On Allison Trapp:
"She was one of the top players on the floor and all year long has stepped up for us. She has played great all year and I'm very proud of her today."

Delaware Senior Guard, Allison Trapp:
"I wanted to do whatever it took. We are not satisfied and you just have to walk away with your head up. Every year someone else is supposed to win it and unfortunately we came up short."
