DURHAM, NC - Senior John Oehler (Audubon, NJ.) and junior Allen Strick (GlenBurnie, MD.) each knocked in three runs to lead the Monarchs to a 10-8 victory over DukeTuesday afternoon. ODU (4-2) has now won three straight games. Duke is now 4-5.The Monarchs pounded out 14 hits on the day.
Oehler's two-run homer in the seventh inning with Pedro Pena (Haverhill, MA.)aboard proved to be the winning margin for the Monarchs. Oehler also knocked in a run inthe Monarchs five-run fifth inning.
Strick had three hits on the day. He doubled home Brandon Le Noir (Ocala, FL.) and Evan Chipman (Raleigh, NC.)in the third and singled in Brent Sollenberger (Chambersburg, PA.) in the fifth inning. Le Noir also had three hits on the day for ODU.
Sophomore shortstop Jesse Schoendiest knocked in two runs with a single in the fifth inning. Senior righthander Kevin Evans (Shamong, NJ.) picked up the win in relief.
Designated hitter Troy Caradonna led the Blue Devils with three hits and two runsbatted in. Michael Golom, Adam Murray and Senterrio Landrum each had two hits forDuke.
The Monarchs host Marist College in a three-game series beginning Friday at 3 p.m.The Red Foxes were 44-16 last year and advanced to the NCAA Regionals.
