CHARLESTON, SC. --The Baseball Monarchs open the 2003 season with three games in theCitadel Tournament. ODU will open with Vanderbilt on Friday, then last year's NCAAWorld Series runners-up South Carolina on Saturday, and Tennessee on Sunday.
In Friday mornings contest with Vanderbilt, sophomore James Burok (Archbald, PA.) willget the nod on the mound. Burok is a pre-season All-CAA pick by BASEBALL AMERICA. OnSaturday, pre-season All-American and 2002 CAA Rookie of the Year Justin Verlander(Goochland, VA.) will be on the hill to face #14 South Carolina. On Sunday, freshmanRicky Shefka (Kinston, NC.) is scheduled to start against the Volunteers of Tennessee.
