HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) - Dwayne Broyles and David Fanning scored 27 pointseach to help carry James Madison past Old Dominion 74-66 Saturday.
The Dukes (9-13, 5-7 Colonial Athletic Association) overcame a 33-24halftime deficit, helped by six three-pointers from Broyles, including the shotthat gave JMU its first lead of the half at 55-54 with 6:15 remaining.
ODU led 46-34 with 13:30 left in the game after an Isaiah Hunter basket. The freshmanfrom Charlotte, NC. scored nine on the night with three assists.
The Monarchs (9-11, 6-6) battled back and kept the score within four pointsfor the remainder of the game but fell behind for good after a pair of freethrows by Fanning put the Dukes on top 59-58 with 4:45 left.
John Waller scored 16 for ODU and brought in seven rebounds, while Ricardo Marshscored 12 and led with eight rebounds. As a team, ODU shot .375 (21-56) from thefloor. JMU outrebounded ODU, 36-34, while the Monarchs committed 15 turnovers tothe Dukes, 16.
ODU hosts league leading UNC Wilmington on Wednesday night in the Ted Constant ConvocationCenter. Game time is 7 p.m. ODU defeated the Seahawks, 67-57 in Wilmington lastmonth.
